Can inside old natural wood hollow doors be painted and look nice?

The hollow doors in our house have scratches and I have thought about painting them the color of the door frame but wondered how they would look and what paint to use. The house was built in the sixties.

I would think so Betty. I have these doors to and they are that "redwood" color. It will be nice to know the techniques others offer

Just lightly sand them and paint with a good semi-gloss or gloss paint, according to what your door frames are painted with.

I have 60 year old hollow doors and they probably need a good cleaning before anything is applied to them. I am not so sure I want my painted but they are 'crap' wood so the grain is not pretty. Any suggestions other than paint or just regular refinishing.

I was helping a friend and we wallpapered with that embossed paper and then painted the paper. We took the doors off to make it much easier. He doubted me but it looked gorgeous afterwards. The paper comes in different designs and we bought it at Home Depot.

Put on thin trim in a pattern to fake a panel then paint.
