You can, but i think it would be better to powder coat it. Spray paint may or may not last as long.
Yes,remove the hardware and spray them with Rustoleum 2x for metal
Yes, I did it for my kitchen cabinet hardware, removing it, then a light sanding and sprayed it with satin SS Rustoleum paint. 2 or 3 yrs. later I had to re-paint a few of them that I use daily.
