Does anyone know if I can paint my tile backsplash and make it stick?

It's been there for a while and I purchased dark stainless appliances now my kitchen is too dark. I have a yellowish golden granite counters with brown and black spots and lines. The backsplash is a dark color like the appliances. I'd have to go lighter but am unsure if it'll work. Please if you've successfully painted your backsplash and want to share, I'm in deep need here.... All ideas, suggestions welcome, as long as it doesn't include removing the backsplash, yet anyway. Thank you home talker friends!
