How should I paint these?

We are replacing all our old old painted vent covers with these BRIGHT WHITE ones. My husband does not want me to paint bc he thinks they will not be movable. One coat of spray will not hurt, right?

Help .... much too white!

A coat of white spray paint would make them look new again. Just make sure they have time to proper dry before you put them back up! 😁

Hi Nana, I have spray painted mine before with no problems.

Mine are the same color as the wall. They easily come off when I change colors.

I would use spray paint. Just don't spray it on too thick. Use light coats and they should still move.

Take them down paint using sponge brush with your wall paint. When dry put back up. They disappeare into wall and come down easy when needed.

You can buy these fairly cheaply at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Remove them before painting them. Let them dry then put them back up.

They look much better when they are painted to match your wall color. They are not made to be focal points.

Use a spray paint for metal projects. You can get any color that matches your décor. I sprayed mine a number of years ago and they still look good. Just follow the directions on the can.

Make sure they are cleaned of any dust. You can use scrubbing bubbles and the dirt comes right off. Let them dry. Use a metal spray paint and do a light coat. After it drys, just screw it back in and you have almost new vent covers!

I had an odd sized moveable vent cover that was in bad shape visually. Couldn't find another one that would fit. Put mine in the dishwasher to clean it and repainted it after drying for 24 hrs. Works just fine.

As everyone suggests. They can be painted to match the walls. Will not affect the operation.

I took mine down, cleaned them off and painted them to match the walls with the same paint I used on the walls. I did two nice, light even coats and allowed them to dry completely. NO problem taking them down later. And since it matches the paint exactly, it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. The only reason they might stick is if you were too lazy to take them down and just slopped a coat of paint right on them while they are still screwed into the wall. LOL!

Just don't paint them while they are installed. That will make it hard to remove them. They look better matching the wall to me not standing out in pristine white. Even new they aren't art objects! Because they need to match the wall, you probably will have to brush paint them. I use a foam brush and mine look fine. Some colors took two coats.
