knotty pine will show its knots thru most paint, esp. if you're thinking a light color or white. It will take two good coats of Biz or similar sealer before you can put color on. Good luck!
Just finished my sons very large kitchen, painted it white. Make sure you lightly sand to remove the original finish, 1-2 coats of a good primer such as BIZ TO MAKE SURE NONE OF THE KNOTS ARE SHOWING THROUGH! Then you can proceed to paint.
