Would it devalue my fireplace to paint it out in white? It is currently gray brick.
We have built-ins on either side of our gray brick fireplace, and I would love to paint the fireplace out in white. However, my husband feels it would be a bad idea.
Go for it! What's the worst that can happen? If you don't like it, you can start over. I'd probably try acrylic paint.
If this is a smaller size are a rug, just get another. Painting rugs is a bad idea. It will just flake off.
Lisa is right. It will flake off and it also creates a hard texture on the rug surface that is not very nice. Maybe a different cleaning method instead?
Try mixing your paint with fabric medium to keep it from flaking off.
You could also try dying it. I used a spray bottle with dye on mine and it worked wonders. I am sure it would depend on the material being dyed. Good luck with what ever option you choose
Try cleaning it with parts white vinegar, Dawn dish detergent and water. Let it dry.
I know you can paint furniture so i would imagine you can paint the carpet.
you would have to get a fabric paint.
