I did in mine and the paint has held well. I used liquid sander before I applied the paint to the walls. Mine was outside of the shower itself. If it is inside the shower area, I would apply to a sample area and leave until the shower had been used a few times while using the shower to see if the paint would be damaged.
The product I used was Liquid Sandpaper by Klean Strip. It is a deglosser that helps the paint to adhere to the walls without having to use a sander. Works very well, mine has been on for nearly 8 years and shows no signs of peeling.

Our bathroom has shiny wallboard with lots of nail holes. I am wondering what kind of paint would work best or maybe it would be best to just get new wall board !!
