I am looking for durability as we have lots of tenants..and I don't want to spend lots of money I am retired..

There are new products out now that can be applied over formica countertops that make them look and wear like granite. I plan on having mine done in a black with tiny specks look. You can also get kits to paint your cupboards at Home Depot and other paint stores. I have seen the results and they are beautiful. Hope this works for you should you try it.
