Is it a bad idea to paint the base board the same color as the walls?

Hi Yvonne! In some parts of my house, I do have the baseboard painted to match. It depends if you like the look, and if you want them to blend in. If you want them to stand out against the wall due to curved molding for example, I would paint them white, black, or stain them so they would pop.

Not in my house where that is the norm.

No. In fact, glossy or semi-gloss white for baseboards and matte white for walls is as traditional as paint. If you have a purple room with purple baseboards, no one will blink an eye. If she does blink, it will be in seeing that you have an exceptionally trained eye. Stay cool, Yvonne. ☺️
