Should I paint my kitchen cabinets white?

My cabinets were about your color when I painted them white. I also have a similar floor. It's all about personal preference though. I've seen some lovely kitchens in an array of cabinet colors.

White would look nice if you replace your white appliances with stainless steel. If you keep them, I would go with a green color.

yes, or a muted color ( grey/blue). a bit too much wood-on-wood with the floor wood also, it will look amazing!

You could paint them but the cabinets look timeless. Another option is just change out the hardware and maybe a big foam (ergonomic) rug or a runner in front of the sink and maybe stove. Mine is great for standing and just goes in the washer.

Do you like white kitchens? This is your kitchen so you are the one who will be living with it. I personally love black and white kitchens and all white kitchens. Seeing your pic, I think white cabinets would look amazing.

You have the perfect layout to put in an island in a different color. You could even get unfinished cabinets and then seal and paint it yourself...put on a beautiful top. Keep in mind that constant use such as that a kitchen gets will chip away at paint. This is going to be a pretty big, timely job so make sure you research this really well. Painted cabinets may not wear as well as will a factory baked on finish. A moca color would be pretty with a little darker on the bottom cabinets! Or you can keep what you have and add color in a different way!

I painted mine and love them.I laid a 13x13 black tile (it's not vinyl, but sort of a commercial soft tile) on the floor and put black hardware on the cabinets. I can accent with about any color. Jeanette is right, though, chips will happen, which is why God made correction liquid for emergencies!

I'd change out the knobs BEFORE painting them, then if you still want to cause the new hardware doesn't make them look more contemporary, then go ahead and paint away! white is tricky....snoop around here on this site and on the others like houzz.com

I say yes as long as you like white kitchens. It would brighten up the space a lot. You have white appliances so it wouldn't make those stand out as much also. Change out the hardware, add a nice rug and a few new kitchen towels and you will completely change it without a complete remodel. A little wall color change would be good too if that is possible and then you would have a completely new kitchen. I love it.

Yes Yes Yes!!!! you will love the black and white! It goes with any decor. I did mine 10 years ago and I have black granite counter top and it looks amazing. I have decorated 'Italian' and after 9 years of that decor, changed to French Country. You won't regret it!!! (I would post a picture of mine, but there isn't a 'upload' photo button.)

I think a two tone would be nice..say a white on the bottom and a light gray or sage green on top. I love the white kitchens..but they are close to being over done. White does not stay white and can seem dingy after a while. Look at some other kitchens, you may see a color that appeals to you. We had all wood cabinets also.. I wanted white to brighten it up, so I took doors off and numbered them..then painted the cabinet framing white, hung the wood doors back up..I was kinda afraid to paint the doors white. But after 10 yrs. of them white and wood I am going to paint it all white this spring..

painting the cabinets white will definitely brighten up the room, you could also try replacing the cabinet door hardware, maybe with a stainless steel pull.

Hi @Robin Edwards-Fowler - personally I wouldn't advise white - the only reason I'm saying that is because you have all white electricals i.e. cooker, m/wave and fridge/freezer and I think you need to set these apart - otherwise your kitchen will look too 'clinical'. Therefore, my suggestion would be perhaps like a 'silver grey' which would look nice against your white stuff. Or, you could do a 'two-tone' with certain units white and the others silver grey. ie. don't use white against white - use the grey. Having another look at your kitchen - perhaps you could use the white on the cabinets on the right hand wall. Not those facing you as you look at the picture. I also like your handles on the cabinets and they would also look nice if you painted the cabinets grey. How about a nice light sage green for the cabinets with white walls? With the floor color that would look really nice and fresh and have character. 
Everyone wants to do white on white and it can be beautiful at first, but will that look last?
