How do I paint and epoxy kitchen counters and floors?

Has anyone here painted and epoxies kitchen counters/floors? If so, any advice before I really think about it???

There are kits available. I have not done it, but heard that it is a good option for old ugly laminate countertops. I don't know about floors, but you definitely need something durable or it will look bad quickly.

I've been watching how-to videos from different companies, and it looks simple enough - but they're pretty pricey. I was wondering if anyone had DIY using epoxy/paint/materials from from Home Depot or Lowes.

I have used epoxy paint on my old, stained countertops (the same thing I used on my tub and shower !) It still looks nice after 10+ years. Of course, I use a cutting board when cutting something but, other than that, if I do get a stubbon stain (rarely), I use Comet. Otherwise, just washing it with my dishwater (containing bleach) keeps it nice. I'm not sure if I sanded the old countertop first or not. I may have.
