I’m unable to remove my interior doors but I want to paint the hardware in brushed metal. Since I can’t spray paint the pieces can anyone suggest using a paint to do this? They are worn out brass color now and am looking for the right type of paint to use. Thank you!

Use oil based paint in the colors you want.

Check into Rust-Oleum Enamel paint. It is for metal surfaces and comes in an oil based formula. There isn't a lot of variety in color but it's an excellent paint.

      Hi Kathy!

I went into a store called Menards this afternoon and they had a new product by Rustoleum. Small jars of metallic paints in all metals for $3.98 each. Thank you for suggesting Rustoleum!

Hello Chriss! A tip for painting those hinges. Find some Press and Seal at the grocery store. Cut strips and lay it over the hinge and surrounding wood. If you don't have one, get an exacto knife (you'll find lots of ways to use it!). Cut around the hinges and peel off the portion covering your hinge. Press the surrounding strip to make sure you have a good seal and start painting! Paint several thin coats to make sure the paint will cure quicker. Try to allow the finished paint to completely cure for about 30 days. If you have to close a door, use "Post it" notes over the hinge when closed. Good luck!

That’s a great idea! I wasn’t too thrilled about putting up all that painters tape around the hinges. Thank you!
