How to paint whitewash over brown panelling?
Redoing a small beach condo with brown paneling. Has anyone done a whitewash ?? I know I could just paint it outright, but was wanting to try a light ‘greige’ paint wash to allow the grain texture to show through.

Yes, just use thined down oil based paint in any color . Thin with paint thinner to the coverage you desire. I'd start with 1 part thinner to 3 part paint mixture. Brush on then wipe off or leave the brush strokes.. wipe/Brush in the direction of the grain. Have fun.
In a beach setting I think a whitewash would look great. Even better than just paint. If there is an closet where you could try it that might work. Just remember you can always add more paint so you might experiment with a 70%water to 30% paint first in an inconspicuous spot and if it needs more add more paint to the wash. Good luck!
