Hi Marion,
Are you wanting to paint the walls or are you referring to painting cabinets? Here is a tutorial from Lowes for painting cabinets.
Hello Marion! Yes--adding some new paint helps to brighten things up! I repaint every few years and add some coordinating accessories for a change. I shop around for decorating bargains and the newest trend--farmhouse--has made it so much fun to decorate without spending a huge amount of money!
You can paint all kinds of things in the kitchen and bathroom... walls, cabinets, ceilings, trim, etc. Walls are the easiest to paint, and using a bold color will give you a lot of bang for your buck and create a very noticeable change. Just be sure to pick the right paint for the surface if you're doing things other than the wall. Ask the salespeople at your local home improvement for suggestions. Good luck!
Paint can go so far when transforming a space! We're talking walls, tile floor, trim, cabinets, etc. Just make sure to use semi-gloss in a bathroom because of the humidity and easy clean up.
Hi Marion! I can tell you how to upgrade your kitchen and bathroom by painting your cabinets with Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint! :)
It is super easy to paint with Dixie Belle:
Step one: Clean with White Lightning
Step two: If the surface is slippery, apply two coats of Slick Stick
Step three: Paint one to two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint
Step four: Use Gator Hide for a water-repellent finish
I am attaching some kitchens that have been painted with Dixie Belle Paint so you can see the outcome.

For painting cabinets, I've heard great things from the pros about using STIX or BIN Primer. And then using Benjamin Moore Advance or Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel.
