Hi Marcie, Some paint companies make porch and floor paint that is durable. Perhaps the best thing would be to sand and prime first. Your paint store or big box store should be able to suggest what's right to use, it may also depend on location of the floor; if it is for a basement or below grade they may have other suggestions.
