Stencil Patterns Can Add Interest To A Ceiling In A Small Space

1 Material
It's time to embrace that small space of yours and add some style and pattern. Stencil designs are a playful way to add interest to a boring ceiling. Today we’re going to share with you a guest bathroom makeover that included a subtle stencil pattern. Come take a look...
We'd like to welcome back Gina Baran, the interior designer and creative mind behind the blog The Edit, Gina Baran. Today we're going to take a look at her latest assignment, The Mead Project. This was a project that was near and dear to her heart because she helped a family go from studs to style as they rebuilt their home. The lovely family lives in a suburb just outside of Boston. As the family of five began to outgrow their home, they decided to rebuild and add more space. On that list of spaces to design was the third floor guest bedroom and bathroom. Here is what the space looked like before its update.
Gina had a design plan in mind and it included a space that was light, bright, and airy. She painted the room a bright white. Since the walls and the decor were various white hues, Gina wanted to add some visual interest to the ceiling. The ceiling is often neglected but most designers consider it to be the fifth wall. She browsed our large collection of wall patterns and selected our Vision Allover Stencil. This beautiful tribal stencil was inspired by traditional art of Shipibo Indians from the Amazon basin. It's perfect for adding pattern to walls or ceilings.
With her stencil in hand, Gina was ready to start stenciling! She painted the tribal-inspired pattern in white over the soft gray ceiling. She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern. Our stencil essentials kit contains all of the supplies needed to complete a project like this one. After each section was complete, Gina would un-tape the stencil and reposition so she could paint the entire ceiling. Once the stencil was complete, Gina updated the bedding and added white window treatments. Are you ready to see how this all turned out?
Gina had this to say about her stenciled guest bedroom project, "We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Don’t forget to look UP! We used a stencil to create the detailed painted ceiling."
Gina posted this on Instagram, "This attic transformed into guest suite creating another level of living. Their guests won't ever want to leave! If you look ever so closely at the ceiling... We added a lot of visual interest with @cuttingedgestencils."
