DIY Hallway Makeover - the REVEAL
We bought our house in July last year and since have been very busy renovating our first home. The first project we went for turned out to be our biggest challenge - Hallway. What we thought would be a simple paint job turned into a little nightmare with difficult walls and problems along the way! However, we did get there in the end!!
Here are some of the before photos. We ripped the carpets out and took the skirting boards off, removed the old wallpaper, changed all the doors.
The walls needed to be skimmed (thin coat of plaster to be put over) as they were uneven and had a few minor cracks
we closed off a door [post on how we did it is in my projects on hometalk]
Old doors were removed and replaced with new six panel wood effect doors, which we painted in satin white.
We replaced the flooring with some lovely carpets on the landing and the staircase and laminate flooring on ground floor
We created a beautiful mirror gallery wall by staining the old wooden mirrors we had at home to match the banister and photo frames
We put a lovely wallpaper up on our statement wall and created a beautiful gallery wall with photos from our wedding.
The old mirrors got a fresh look. I simply sanded the old orangey varnish and stained them using the dark oak stain. Once that was dry I put a few golden accents
I made the sign for our anniversary by carving the year we got married together with the coordinates of the church
Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Love it, but did you notice your door is letting hot air out and cold air in? (winter) and will let hot air in in the summer? Can you fix it with rubber insert in these areas? Not sure the proper name but you make a small groove in door or windows, and you slide this in. Not sure how you can fix the to sides though.
Hi how did u do the"branding" on your wedding wall sign please
