We took our old window treatments down to add curtains and there were some nasty holes. In this tutorial I'll show you how to fix them and make your window look fresh again! It's pretty simple, you will need some wood filler, some medium grit sandpaper and paint. I like to use cabinet/trim enamel paint for durability.

These holes are where the old blind were screwed into the trim. I finally got sick of looking at them and did something about it!

I started by filling the holes with wood filler. Just place a dab on your finger and fill the hole.

Wait about 20 minutes for small holes, and sand down using 180 grit paper until the surface is smooth to the touch and cohesive. Sand with the grain of the wood!

Lastly, you will want to add two coats of cabinet and trim enamel paint. I have found this type of paint to be the most durable for trim that is heavily trafficked.

Look at that refreshed trim! Such an easy and inexpensive fix that freshens up a space.

If people don't have wood filler on hand, mix corn starch with water to make a thick paste. Then use this to fill holes and sand - you can just add a little water with your fingertip for sanding. Have been using the corn starch in different homes we've lived in since the 1980's. Works great and is usually readily available in the pantry.
