Recently, we made some updates to our house and helped the kids transform their rooms from kids’ rooms to teen rooms.

With our help, our kids, ages 12 and 14, updated their bedrooms to reflect their ages and unique personalities.

I have several thrifty tips to help you also transform your child’s room into a teenager’s room.

  1. Give the room a fresh coat of paint.
  2. Declutter
  3. Update furniture and accessories
  4. Make changes to the lighting.

This is what our son's room used to look like.

We let him pick out his new paint color.

We got him a new, bigger bed and he choose his bedding.

He decluttered.

His shelf used to have a whole bunch of trophies and sports memorabilia.

We changed and adding some new lighting, including these smart strip lights. He can change the colors and other settings through an app.

I like being able to turn off their lights using my phone if they happened to leave them on.

Here he is in his completed, teenager-style room.

So, without spending a lot of time or money, we were able to update our kid's room to make them look more like a teen’s room.

Have to give you major props for the 🖤STEELERS💛 themed comforter!!! Anything with a Pittsburgh sports team... Steelers, Penguins, or the Pirates gets a HUGE **WOO HOO** from this gal!!! I do believe that handsome young man might be wearing a Pirates shirt... so I sense a fellow fan there, just like my son and two grandsons. Da Burgh is my second home, and our fans are everywhere!!! Great job on everything, not just repping my team(s)!

Just a comment; the bedding is upside down. The “Steelers” should be at the end of the bed. I’d add more to the walls too. It’s kinda bare.
