Painting an Ugly Brightly Colored Ceiling Fan and Banana Yellow Walls

Tina Johnson
by Tina Johnson
My guest bedroom was painted a horrible banana yellow and had a ceiling fan where each blade of the fan was a different primary color. (Red, yellow, blue, green, orange). I wanted to paint both the room and the ceiling fan.
I did not remove the ceiling fan to paint it, I left it hanging on the ceiling. I primed the walls and ceiling fan with Sherwin Williams multi-purpose primer. I painted the ceiling fan with Sherwin Williams high gloss door and trim paint in a bright white.
The walls were painted with Sherwin Williams eggshell paint in a color called tidewater.
The doors and molding were painted with a high gloss white. I like the contrast of the eggshell walls with the bright white trim. This is a small guest bedroom and I'm pleased with the end result.

Hahah "banana" colored. XD My baby's room was that "color" too. Terrible. The color you picked is fantastic and you did a great job with the whole room
