It was time for my granddaughter to move to her own room, so my daughter asked me if I would help her with painting. She knew the colors she wanted to use and originally she thought we would put stripes throughout the walls. Which ended up being quite a task. So we came up with this one dimensional stripe throughout the walls with two tones of color. And my daughter had purchased some decals on Amazon for the finishing project

Adding painters tape.
We went to work taping off a dimensional line across the room.

We went to work taping off a dimensional line across the room. Because one wall was already painted with black chalk paint we only had three walls that we needed to three tone. We used the frog tape which is a little more expensive but does not let the bleeding come through.

All walls taped off
We got it all taped off we went back over to make sure it is all adhered to the walls.

We got it all taped off we went back over to make sure it is all adhered to the walls to prevent bleeding. First we painted the center line in the beige Colored strip when it dried we moved onto the upper pastel pink and lower pastel purple colors.

Adding colors
Just painted the beige line in the center and let it dry.

Just painted the beige line in the center and let it dry. Making sure to not let it dry too long and removing the tape will pull the colors off. We re-added the tape for the other colors added a pastel pink to the top and a pastel purple to the bottom.

Colored walls

The hardest part was adding and removing the tape without pulling off previous colors. We made sure not to let any of the paint colors dry too much otherwise when we pulled off the frog painters tape the color would come with it.

Touching up paint
As I said we didn’t let the paint dry to much!

Unfortunately, we learn the hard way that if we left the tape on too long that took some of the color off so we had to go back and do a little touch up here and there but mostly it really turned out amazing.

Touching up baseboards
After the walls were painted pretty pastels the white baseboards and the trim looked rugged

So we went back in and touched up all the white paint before applying the decals.

Adding decals
Once the paint was dry it was time to have some fun and add all the decals

Once the paint had dried it was time to add the decals that my daughter had purchased off of Amazon. There was no rhyme or reason they were just sporadically placed across the wall. Here is the link for the decals.

Now it is time for finishing touches
decals were placed the pictures were added to the walls. The crib was brought in. In the dress

Once the decals were applied all the pictures were added to the wall the crib was brought in and the dressers were placed. As I Said we did not do anything with the one black chalkboard wall because my granddaughter will love writing on it.

The final project was completed it turned out beautiful my granddaughter loves it as well as my daughter. This was a super easy painting project other than the patience of placing the tape. It might take a couple tries but it turns out beautiful.

Using the decals is a smart idea rather than wallpapering.

It will be way easier remove them if your granddaughter (or her Mom) want to change them to a different theme as she gets older.
