This is spreading all over. I'm northwest of Chicago, Illinois.

  • It's French sorrel and is quite invasive (although I think it's lovely). You need to control it by thinning where you don't want it.

    I Googled Red Veined Dock and that is exactly what I have and lots of it! I don't know how I got it, other than it blew in my direction from the wind. It is quite beautiful, but I just have to much and I'll just have to keep thinning. It's taking over. Thank you to everyone with your answers.

    Isn't this stuff edible? when you thin it put it in soups or salads and it might take away some of the pain in the behind of having to thin it!

    Google Red Veined Dock. It is edible but only in small amounts. It's not worth the chance to me, so I'll pass on eating it. I thought it might be in the red leaf lettuce family, it looks good enough to eat.

    Melanie was actually right - it's also called dock. Either name, it is very invasive!
