How can i keep neighbors small children from climbing my fence?

Talk to the parents again being non confrontational.

If that doesn't work talk to the police and they may talk to your neighbors.

You can get some Roost No More used to deter birds from roosting on fences. It's sticky and gooey. Place it on top of the fence.

Hi Mogie, since you've let the parent know you don't want the children climbing on your fence, I think William's last suggestion might work. Also, you might be able to search for a way to put some type of harmless dye on the fence so the kids will get stains on their hands when they climb. Sadly, most any way you try to handle the situation will not be well received by the neighbor. Sorry you have to deal with inconsiderate parents.

Well, this is a problem.

The parents of the children have been made aware of what their children are doing and you did not get the responsible reply you expected from adults. Look at it this way, they are not being supervised as they should be, and since you have spoken to them, document that and the results of that conversation. These children are climbing on your fence and they may get hurt (liability and homeowners insurance). This brings up the subject of lack of parental supervision. The next step would be to bring up it to CPS. You might want to make a recordings of them climbing to further document, if your camera has no date on what you record, get a newspaper and take pictures with that in plain sight, you'll have a date.

If you opt for the sprinkler, they'll love it and be back for more with their friends. It also might be considered assault to get them wet.

I do like William's suggestions, I would go there with hubby and be very polite and of course non-confrontational. Also the police or sheriff's dept may not be effective if they do go talk to them because there is no damage to your fence. So far it's civil matter.

You can put an invisible electric fence the kind to keep dogs in the yard. It will not hurt them but will deter them.

You can add decorative items that will take up the space where they climb.

are they wanting to play in your yard? why do the climb the fence?

They climb the fence cause they were put outside and they are bored (normal kid stuff). Only reason I can think of for them climbing the fence is that we have a few fruit trees about 15 feet away from the fence.

If they want some fruit all they have to do is ask. Just seems like a good opportunity to use this as a lesson on respecting other peoples property.

Might have found a solution in the form of anti climb paint. Has anyone had any experience using this?

This is too bad, it's unfortunate the dad was not more understanding of what could happen if they fall off or hurt themselves some other way on your fence. But it is your fence.

You could plant a prickly vine to grow up and cover the fence. Seems a shame to have to go that route!

I would also send him a registered letter advising him you will not be responsible for any injuries from his kids trespassing on your property, and you will hold him liable for any damages to your fence. Keep a copy of the letter and the registered mail receipt.

thanks for all the answers went with security cameras. Made it obvious that we were putting the cameras up (wanted them to see) and the dad has started to keep them on their own property. Thanks for your suggestions!!!
