How can I paint over polyurethaned furniture? It is very dated!

    some light sanding with 220 grit (tack cloth with mineral spirts) then prime...from there you should be fine with paint....a lot of folks have been using the Ann Sloane chalk paints.

    I assume it's best to do this outdoors?

    The light hand sanding would be the messiest part...the painting can be done indoors...with a drop cloth. depending on where you live sometimes indoor temps and humidity are better for painting.
