How do I build platform for play kitchen?

Hello!

Does anyone have any simple instructions on how to build a small wooden platform to place a play kitchen on top of?

I had a step2 kitchen that I sold recently and didn’t realize the kid Kraft play kitchen was shorter even with its legs on. My oldest has to go down on her knees and sit to play with it while my youngest can reach it just fine. I had contemplated getting a brand new kitchen when it was suggested to place it on a platform to raise it a little bit. It’s a good size but not tall enough for my 4 yr old. Any help on how to raise it would be appreciated.

you can buy legs or round balls that are flat on one side to give it height you find them at Home Depot or any hardware type store

Thanks! But I’m looking for help in building something more stable. I plan to take its current legs off and place on top of a stable wooden platform.

What about using BUN's on the bottom? They are wide and sturdy. Find them in the wood trim section of the hardware stores.

Considering how many products now originate overseas, it is unfortunately often no longer possible to contact the manufacturer.

  • If you can find an old coffee table, attach it to that with screws. If the legs are too long, cut them down.

You might try mounting it on half of a pallet, or two pallets cut in half and stacked, measure first to make sure you can get it to the height you want.

Oh! Thank you! This might work. I’ll look into it.

If you built a wooden frame that would encase the entire play kitchen you could also include a base in that build.

If the height isn't a concern why not use furniture movers (those plastic discs that you put under your furniture to move it without marking up the floors)?

You can build a frame out of 2X4's, 2X6's, 2X8's, 2X10's with plywood on top based on the height you need. Measure the size of the base of the kitchen and make the same size base. A gob of construction adhesive on each corner of the base will hold the two together.

  • If you can locate an old coffee table, screw it to it. Cut the legs short if they are excessively lengthy. Depending on the height you require, a frame made of 2X4s, 2X6s, 2X8s, or 2X10s with plywood on top can be constructed. Make the base the same size as the kitchen's base by measuring it. The two can be kept together with a generous amount of construction adhesive on each corner of the foundation.

Here is a video for making a platform using 1X... boards which would be cheaper than 2X...boards. This is for a 4'X8' platform but yours would be the same dimensions as the base of the kitchen since you plan to remove the legs.

i would add some kind of legs to the bottom of the kitchen. You can find wooden legs at the hardware store or Amazon, just measure the difference in the heights and get that size legs.

  • It can be as simple as some 2x4’s to make a rectangular frame and laying a piece of plywood atop it. Just some screws to hold it all together.

You could cut up a Pallet to do the job.

I would build a simple platform with a 2x4 frame and cover with plywood. Then you can paint it to match or contrast with a dark base.

This is a simple wooden platform, it's meant to work as a miniature stage but it could also work for this! https://www.instructables.com/Simple-Wooden-Stage-Platform-for-Kids/
