How do I get it all done being older and needing so many things done?

Siding on house and front porch needs to be replaced due to rot? Need steps at other 2 doors, Metal on out building rusting? Big pond needs revamped. I have even had a new pump for 4 years. Ground leveled where flowering plums blew down. Six of them. Watering system no longer works. Yard is 2 acres. Trees need limbed up so a fire truck could make it up 800-900 ft driveway. Never thought that after 37 years of working I would not have enough funds to cover all that needs to be done. Hubs and I did everything, now we are unable. That is just a partial list.

If you have a spare room in your house, maybe you could offer free rent to a handyman that could help with these projects. The list sounds overwhelming. I understand being attached to hour home of so many years, but it may be time to think about downsizing.

    Hello Tanya,

Getting older is a bummer! You think it will never impact on you quite the way it does, everything takes twice as long (if not more) and motivating yourself gets harder too!

That said, We have ways of dealing with the JOB's in our house.

1st. one is not to call them JOB's, but instead call them PROJECTS (doesn't it sound more do able) ??

We either do the Project that is most urgent! or

The one we fancy doing at the time! or

We make a game of it (for motivation purposes) by writing down all the Projects that need to be done (this is normally on a day we don't feel up to doing anything) and cutting them out and folding them up and placing them in a jar with a lid on. Then on a day when we have a bit of energy or feel like motivating ourselves or the sun is shining and we really ought to do something, we reach for the "Promise Jar" or the "Round Tuit" and draw a job out at random, and just start to do it! We stop when we need to sit down, we stop for breaks, but eventually, (It may take along time - days - even weeks, but slowly but surely we make progress. At the end of each day, we congratulate ourselves on what we have managed to do and so the days are not wasted and we feel good!! (even if it is on a little) we are nearer to completion and then on to a day of rest!! Till we feel like diving into the Pot again.............. Wishing you success with your next Project! - We have to clear a very full garage.............................
