You want to make sure to get caulk that is for the bathroom area. As for brand, I've never seen any difference in how well they work. I use a wet cloth to smooth the caulk. Squeeze into the area and remove any excess with a wet cloth. I like to have a bowl of water and rinse the cloth after 2-3 swipes. Try to get it all off before it dries because removing often gets ALL the caulk and you have to start over. Once it is completely dry, use a plastic scraper to remove any residue. You might need to "cut" to make sure you don't remove too much. I use a single edge blade to cut it then scrape.
Silicone caulk is the product of choice for this project, some people apply painters tape above and below the area you want to caulk. When done caulking, just remove the tape and you'll have clear lines.
DAP makes a new one for wet areas that is awesome. Cut the tube tip small. Too large too much comes out to handle. Make a slow steady bead the most even that you can. Wet your finger and drag from one end to the other to smooth it out. Make sure the surface is clean and NO caulk from previous application. Some people use painters tape to make a straight line but that leaves a tiny "lip" on either side that I don't like. It is easy to do. You will be SO proud of yourself when you see what you have done. š
Iād go with 100% silicone which, fyi is solvent clean up, and lay down painters tape around where youāre caulking to keep things tidy. You can see what I did here.
Yep I agree with using 100% silicone. Alot of folks use blue painters tape on either side of the place they want to caulk and then, after caulking, remove it will its still a little tacky.
Loctite 100% Silicone is a top choice.
You can get a tube or use in a caulking gun. Tape off the edges, then apply. Use an ammonia free glass cleaner then smooth out. This works like a charm to keep your caulk looking nice.

Hi Shoshana, hope this helps you, use some painter tape to mask off where you want to run the bead of silicone, cut the top of the tube at an angle and keep it fairly small. Run a bead along the edge and use a wet fingertip to smooth it, remove the tape BEFORE it dries.
