The plan I'm starting this week is practically free to build!! I picked up 2 lower kitchen cabinets for free on Craigslis. They didnt look like much, but I took the drawers and doors off and painted them to match my kitchen. When dry, bolt them together back to back. I picked up wheels/casters from Home Depot along with new door hardware and a paper towel rack to hang inside one of the doors for easy access and less counter clutter! For the top, I'm either going with the same marble as the surrounding counters OR I'm going to make a butcher block style and stain it to blend with my kitchen and poly the life out of it!! Either way, the base literally cost me less than $50 to finish!! Hope this gives you some ideas!

I purchased two cabinets, from a craft fair, that have drawers, shelves and trash/recycling bins that tip out. Placed them back to back then purchased a slab of granite from Habitat for Humanity ReStore. And I LOVE it.

Yes, upcycle dressers etc. That's what I like to do anyway. You can repaint them, reface them (I did mine in whitewashed, barn wood.)
