Have you tried the Mr. Clean Magic Sponges? It might take some scrubbing and several sponges but it should work. I got bad rust stains and grunge out of a bathtub with them. They truly are magic. They clean everything. I've actually been successful at removing black permanent marker with them.

Try cleaning it with Bar Keepers Friend. It is a powdery cleaner sort if like comet. It is also a rust remover. Great product!

Mix 1 cup of Heated ( I use the microwave oven) White vinegar and 1 cup of Dawn Dish soap. you can splash it in the tub or pour into a spray bottle& mist. let it sit about 10 minutes and you WILL see a huge difference, a little scrubbing may be required, but once you have it clean just spray once a week & let sit and rinse with running water, problem gone! : )

There is a product found in the laundry section called Wink. Squirt it on the rust stain and like magic it disappears...no scrubbing required just rinse it away.

Mr clean magic erasers for the toilet (they have cleaning stuff already on them) work wonders and like Debby said Winks is super great but a lil exspensive.
  • I've used both CLR (calcium-lime-rust) and also baking soda with vinegar to scrub before... if it absolutely won't clean Rustoleum sells a bathtub/tile paint kit for about $25

Mr. Clean magic erasers are all you need to clean anything. I haven't found a single thing that they won't take care of, I use them to clean my whole house!

I agree with Stephanie. I had same problem used the CLR straight and it worked great. Put it in a spray bottle and had to do several times but definitely worked.

I had a coffeemaker that sat in the same spot for a long time. And I moved it and found that the metal on the bottom and water had rusted a giant stain on the counter. I scrubbed with everything and nothing touched it. I finally heard that I should use Bar Keepers friend scrubbing cleanser. I put it damp on the stain and left it sit there for a fewminutes, then I used a Dobie pad and scrubbed it a bit and it came right off. I am amazed that it didn't mess up the counter, but it got all of that rust and stain off.
