well not in my home but the driveway has been taken out by a sink hole. I sure would like for that to be fixed!
  • Oooh - Good idea, Yamini! Thinking "outside the house"! "Dislike" Four Season...=( Sorry! We'll dispatch the elves! (Let us know if they show up. If so we might try to summon the Easter Bunny...craving some candy...)
  • I have no needs inside my home just wants, so I'll keep that list aside. As per the landscaping I think it makes the 'Wants' list too, but I wish an elf can straighten up a few things for me outside.
  • Since I only get to pick one thing, can they fix my wife so she stops yelling at me to fix the million other things around the house? :)
  • Dan, the Elves can't warranty that repair-:)

Hmmm, a Family Room/Kitchen makeover consisting of the following: Get rid of that textured ceiling and put in some lighting so it isn't so dark. Do something about wires to house speaker system hanging out of the wall. Replace flourescent light box over island. Remove blue, striped wall paper from kitchen and paint nice earthy tone. Replace ecru-ish tile with something complementary to wall color. Replace white wall tile with earthy, stone tile with glass accents. Replace counters with granite or some other natural stone. Finally, replace old appliances that are putting a serious dent in my cooking credibility. *exhale ... that's one thing .. right?
  • Tamara, Carol, Steve, Seth..So sad! =( We're wishing you dry basements, working electronics, attic insulation & hot tub-free living rooms this holiday. We might not be elves, but if you need help - we're here!! April & Teresa...You sound like you haven't been thinking about home improvements AT all. ;-) Especially Teresa. It's just too bad you don't have an organized, logical and specific to-do list.

Seth....a hot tub in the living room....That really sucks....I have never seen that before, I hope you got a deal on the house because of that. On my list is for Santa to drop off some more wrought iron balusters so I can make more progress on the stair project.
  • Madelaine S Madelaine S on Dec 20, 2011
Hmmm. The elves could come fix our kitchen floor. Over time, people kept adding layers of flooring to the point we are at now which is ceramic tile (chipped, cracked and grout coming up) over the backer board, over linoleum and subflooring over another layer of linoleum and subflooring over the original hardwoods. All of this means that we can't have out dishwasher repaired until the floors are removed or the countertops.

Wow, I sure could use some help in the kitchen. My boyfriend, who is no longer, moved out seven days after I had a heart attack in July 2011. He does fine carpentry work for everyone he works for; however, every project he started in my home, he never finished anything. Most areas of the house are livable but the kitchen is such a mess I have a hard time cooking every night. How fabulous it would be to have an updated kitchen.

It had to be torn out because she had a leak she wasn't aware of and insurance hasn't helped her fix it .. SHe used the last of her money to pay a contractor .. he tore it out , then he had to file bankrupt and didn't hear from him again.. and then she didn't have any money to have it rebuilt.. and she had her worker's comp cut so she can't afford to get it fixed .. She needs a main beam and the whole floor and things put back in.. :(

I work hard to provide for my family. I own my home and it's older with a very small bath. If I could make a wish come true for my family, it would be to give my wife and kids a bathroom they could be proud of. As everybody knows times are tight and there is never any extra to do home maintenance. Make my wish come true?

We live in a '76 model mobile home and am very grateful for a place to call home. We do all of the upkeep but had to have the livingroom ceiling replaced last year because it was falling through. Now the kitchen and my bedroom ceiling are starting to do the same thing. That would be the first thing on my list. Merry Christmas to all.

Need a new foundation on my 100 year old home. The back porch interior light hasn't worked for about 10 years. I hired someone who messed up the belly board on the back of the house and it now doesn't line up properly with the rest of the house. Now the sewer which goes into my neighbors yard has a whole in it and recently backed up and spewed under my back porch. Some additional minor issues.
  • Caroline G Caroline G on Dec 21, 2011
A new roof. We have places where the shingles have actually come off and the gutter in the back of the house is hanging half way off the house. Our house has many other issues, like a front window that doesn't completely close and needs to be replaced. But, I think the main thing is the roof so we can keep the rain out. Thank you....Grandma G

The one thing would be an oven. It broke two years ago and i have become the extra larger toaster oven and crock pot queen!. During the holidays though some things just don't work out well with these pieces of equipment. Especially the traditions of baking and decorating cookies with the kids. I miss those moments. But it will happen when it happens and we will do what we can to make those special moments again.

For those that commented on my living room hot tub comment above... Its sunken down into the slab. I got a steal on the house since it was bank owned. The hot tub is definitely a conversation starter but it has to go. I plan on leaving the electrical and plumbing in place and stub it out of the floor. In its place im putting in a large saltwater aquarium once I fill in the hole with concrete. One of my many projects around the house.

Santa's elves can take a break at our house. My husband and I finished the basement all by ourselves this year! 2 bedrooms, 1 bath with a tiled floor (including tiling around the tub with our son's help), a kitchen with a eating area, living room, laundry room, storage room, hardwood floors in all the main areas, sheet-rock ceilings in bedrooms and bathroom (tough!), and tongue and groove ceiling in the rest! It's been a fun year!
