Move what? A household of furnishings, a piece of furniture, a wall?

If you're talking about moving from one home to another there has never been a move where I regretted getting a uhaul. Even when my mom was only moving a mile away we were still glad we rented a uhaul!

When we moved this last time.. we knew that many of the things would have to remain in storage for at least 6 months.... I bought more than 20 of the clear sided, clam shell topped storage bins, all the same size..
Packing with the clear sides let me see what was in the bins so I could get to it if I needed it... packing in crates that were all the same size and shape allowed us to stack them neatly and securely. Once we emptied the crates they would nest together for storage in the shed. I have used the same type of crates for storing Christmas decorations, spare blankets, etc.

    1) if you are renting a truck or hiring it out, read the contract carefully. there may be certain items the mover wont move. you will have to make alternative arrangements for those items.

    2) this is a good time to donate clothing that doesnt fit, house hold items that you dont use any more. take your gently used paint, house hold chemicals to habitate for humanity.
some companies wont transport them, but you may take them in your personal car. lawn equipment, moweres chain saws any thing with a fuel in it. pvt car.

    3) pack a kitchen box - pots pans and meal kits about 2-3 days worth. take in car or last to be put on truck. last on 1st off.

4 ) label the boxes on more than 1 side. and with the adress they are going to. occasionally your stuff will have to share a ride.
