Spring Cleaning Challenge - Sewing Room. When cleaning and vacuuming your sewing area, there is the problem of clogging the vac hose with pins and needles. To prevent picking these up, first cover the end of the vac hose with pantyhose. Hold it on with a rubberband. To release the "find", simply turn off you vac and using a magnet, sweep over the pins/needles.

This is good for contact lenses, change and jewelry too. Thanks for the tip.
  • Also good if you have a rug that fuzzes a lot. I clean for a friend and he has a rug that every time I cleaned a spot from dog accidents, the spot cleaner would have lots of fuzz. Had to take machine apart to get it out of hose. After that I put hose on end of hose then put on the attachment. Now it collects just inside the attachment and is easy to remove. Hose on end of attachment wouldn't work because of the brush on it.

Panty hose also works when you vacuum your child's room and he is a lego collector. Many a lego has been saved from the dump. If you have a vac with a beater bar, try to fit the pantyhose where the attachment meets the main vacuum. Anything beats slicing your full vacuum cleaner bag, dumping it on paper outside and checking for parts in the debris.
