We would assume that you have something other than the ubiquitous Honeywell round thermostat where you just turn the dial to point at the desired temperature.The newer digital thermostats have the great advantage that you can set an automatic lowering of temperature during the heating season when no one is at home, thereby saving on heating costs. Down side is that they can seem complicated and impossible to understand and set.Unfortunately you did not give us manufacturer and model number. Those are absolutely essential bits of information if you want help because each one is different. When you find that information you can post it here and we will direct you to a web page that has the manual for download. If there is a part of the manual that you don't understand you can ask specific questions here and someone will be able to help.Helpful Reply -
