Easy. There is a drain valve at the bottom of the tank. You may have to use a screwdriver to open it. Put a short piece of hose on it so the water goes in a bucket or down the drain. Open the valve and drain a bucket (or more) of water out every month.
Do not expect your electric or gas bill to be any lower. This is preventive maintenance you are doing.
Shut water off turn hot water tank off & hook hose to hose hook up in front & put hose out side & turn on check to make shore no hose leak if so put bucket under it.
