Help with hvac duct work

there are lots of small gaps and cracks....holes were screws were...duct work that shifted, i've got most screw holes covered with foil duct tape. the furnace is gas what holes do i not cover ....

    Cover any holes and openings along the length of the duct. Tape around the duct connected to the plenum (bonnet). Tape any seams where lengths of dust meet. Tape around any connections where the pipe runs connect at the main duct. If you have access to the pipe runs tape the seams where two connect together. There should be no holes, gaps, or openings in the duct.

    thanks William, with the advice on caulking, and the tape, I’ve gone from wearing 6 layers to 2. Thankfully I can reach up to the rafters with out a ladder. The ceiling is quit e low.
