Pool heat pump- Does anyone have experience with this?

We live in northern Florida & love our pool but are limited in the time we use it because of the cold weathe. We’e thinking of putting in a heat pump to prolong the time we can use it. Does anyone have experience with this? Also, does it bring up the electric usage a lot? Thanks for any advice.

I know of three people who turned off their pool heater because of the expense of heating their pools.

It adds about $175/month. However I shut it off and run it now and then onweekends to cut down.

We don't use ours because it doesn't extend the season very much and it is expensive. One reason pools get cold is the high evaporation rate. So we have a insulated solar cover for the pool. When their sun the water is warmed and it doesn't cool off rapidly due to evaporation. It's an expensive to buy and with a solar cover reel it's easy to roll back to use the pool.

I have a truly great heat pump. I got it a couple of months ago. My wife wanted to get it, as our little daughter started to like the pool recently and spends a lot of time swimming.
