How can I arrange my furniture around floor vents?
It is very difficult to arrange my furniture because of the vents in the floor. One is close to the front door so you can't put a entry table and the other is smack dab in the middle of the room. I'll send photos.

I have an older brick home. The vents are as old. Need something DIY to hold over to warmer weather and have new ones put in. It's really cold outside.
I have the same problem in my living room. The only option I see is to arrange it how you like for the part of the year that the heat is off. When it's on, make sure the vents are clear. Of course, if you have central air, they need to be clear all the time.
I span vents with something tall like an entry table.
If you don’t need louvered vents there are some nice ones that are flat “cut-out” designs.
Look for vent deflectors....they are plastic and low so you can put one over your vent and it will fit under a couch. We have vent deflectors that have magnets on the sides to force the heat or cold up or down. They work for behind the couch or behind a chair or behind a small piece of furniture. The one in the middle of your floor may be a problem. Can you have your HAVAC people move it closer to a wall?
Kelly....You can purchase extenders from Amazon or Walmart.
Take a look at this project where she extended the floor vent through a built-in. Hope this helps: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/build/furniture/can-you-put-furniture-over-floor-vents-44660236
Floor vent deflectors are the solution to your furniture placement problem. They have them at diy stores and of course, Amazon.
Hi Kelly, hope this helps you out. You can buy deflectors designed for under furniture.
