Can I use Vinyl Top Liner on the glass plate of my microwave?
My mother in law has a silicone liner in her microwave as a “noise” buffer and an easy cleaning. So I’m curious as to, if one can use a vinyl shelf liner for this same purpose.
Just to show what I’m looking to use.

I would just use a paper plate. You know that isn't going to melt. The paper plate can probably be reused more than once and easily changed when it get dirty.
I believe it would melt. I'd stick with silicone liners
I wouldn't as it's not rated to be in a microwave.
Neat idea, but Silicone is stable at higher temperatures. Vinyl would melt.
Vinyl would melt at a much lower temperature than silicone.
I think it would be a fire hazard. Better to use a paper towel or a paper plate. Stay safe!
Hi Heather, I don't think it's a good idea unless you can clearly see that is is meant for use in a microwave. According the FDA, you should always make sure your container is specifically labeled safe for use in the microwave. ... For any best practice with appliances I would suggest contacting the manufacturer their tip lines can be very helpful for education and answering our questions.
Just a note about silicone products (such as mats, spatulas, etc.) All are not created equally in the respect that they are all not rated for the same maximum temperatures.
Generally higher quality brands can withstand higher temperatures than cheap priced items. Also, if there is no label on the product indicating exactly what temperature it is rated for, then IMO it cannot be trusted not to melt.

I wouldn't use the vinyl liner but opt for a paper plate.
Check with the manufacturer.
