Yes - do not do it! Too many stories about the glass cracking from the heavy pots to try. Some glass topped stoves also have that warning in their brochures.
Shouldn't be harder than any other stove. We have one and put up jam two days ago. More canning planned soon.
If you are concerned about the cleaning afterwards, scrape off any excess gunk with a flat blade and then use a product called Astonish, available on Amazon. There are not too many specialty cleaners that I like but Astonish is the only thing I have ever found that really cleans a glass top stove.
I have canned many times on my GE and Kenmore ceramic top stoves. I use a large stock pot and only put a few jars (4) at a time in it with a round rack on the bottom. Never had a problem. Don't overfill the pot. It only needs about an inch of water over the tops of the jars.
