How can I remove melted plastic from my gas oven?
I accidentally put my thick plastic cutting boards in my brand new gas oven to dry. Without thinking, I turned the oven on and of course they melted and the oven caught on fire. I got the fire out, but now have plastic melted into the bottom "heating element" area of the oven. I removed the plastic from the racks, but not sure how to remove the melted plastic off the bottom area of oven without starting another fire. Being as it is gas, I am a little scared to even touch it or re-heat it to melt to remove. Any thoughts?

I would contact the manufacturer for advice, Julie.
Call the manufacturer, this may not be a DIY. Worst case scenario, it might be covered under your homeowners policy, the oven just might be a gonner. Now you know to never ever place any plastic item in the oven, ever. If you need to let it drip dry, find another location.

I agree, I don't think I'd mess with that, contact the manufacturer and see what they say.
