You can purchase glow in the dark paint. I've used it in spray form and brush on. Then you can just paint over the plate that came with the it.
I like glow in the dark tape, too. Amazon carries many different choices, but, I have seen it in stores.
There are also glow in the dark decals that might be of help to you.

The hardware store may still stock glow in the dark tape. I used it on basement steps.
I would get a new illuminated door bell button. Probably cheaper and much easier to install.
My doorbell isn't wired. Contractor broke the wiring. Mine is a wireless doorbell.
