How can I set up the TV antenna so I don't need to use cable?

I knew a few people who are doing this. One has an actual indoor antenna, very much like the old "rabbit ears" from the 50s and 60s. The other has one of those flat panel antennas that are placed in a window (they come with little hangars to attach to the glass, and preferably you hang in a window facing the direction the broadcast signal is coming from). Both work moderately well, but both people live near a large city and it's broadcast towers.

You can find them for sale at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, etc. I see that Lowes has a selection of indoor/outdoor antennas, including the classic kind you put on your roof.

Once you've got the antenna, just follow instructions to plug into your digital TV and program your remote--very simple.

We bought an outdoor antenna at Walmart. It picks up over 14 stations. But we had to run a cable from the antenna to the tv.

I have set up quite a few of my disabled clients on antennas for streaming TV. I went to the local big box store locally and he directed me to the one that worked best in this area where the tower is on a mountain top 75 miles from the city on the rural coast.

Just screw the antenna wire to the back of the TV where your cable coaxil cable was attached. Then go to your TVs menu on your TV remote, and select the option to switch from cable to antenna. If you have a Smart TV it will find the channels, If not Smart, then you need to run the Find Channel Option on the remote's menu key for it to scan.... it will really vary how many channels it will find based on your area and reception

You can then subscribe to various providers like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon etc. They range in price from $5 to $13 a month depending what you like to watch. You can add these by either using the remote button on your blu-ray DVD player, and set up a new account. or if you have a Smart TV, go to the menu at the bottom of the screen, and select the one you want. You will need your computer to complete the setup.... it will direct you to go to their website where it will give you a code to enter.

We live in a large city in a house. I had a professional install an antenae on the roof. It then leads to your tvs by your old cable wires. We get about 20 plus channels. The initial cost was a few hundred dollars but its now free no 60-70$ monthly fees from cable company and really not missing any channels and best part is hd tv which cable company was charging extra for.
