How do you remove post from anchor?
Short of burning, I have spent too much time trying to get this out. I am trying to replace them.
Dremel has a metal cutting blade. I got one to cut off nails that a *&:!G guy left sticking out between upright posts on my deck repair. Looks to me like you will also need a lot of WD40 to loosen it. I always forget about my Dremel when I am puzzling out a repair...
I would try the WD-40 idea and then use a heavy nail or bolt and pound it out with a hammer. This may take a bit of work. Remove the paint with stripper for whatever kind of paint you think it is. If there's rust you want to get off too, use some Naval jelly (I think they still make it) WITH GLOVES, then rinse and wire brush it clean. Now, you're ready for your restoration.
I'd try to hammer the pin out with a flat edged screw driver. Maybe soaking the whole thing first in WD-40 or some sort or rust remover to loosen it.
Drill it out.
WD40 may work but looks like its been there forever. Try PB Blaster. Its stronger and works better than WD40. Really loosens rusted parts. Then use a hammer and nail to pound it out. Hit the tip of the nail to dull it so it doesn't slide around.
Its about 5cm across on one side and about 3cm on the other . I thought it would take more than a nail to shift that seeing, as you say, it is almost welded in with age I will get the PB Blaster though.
You can get nails that are 8cm to 9cm long or a metal rod and grind a pointed tip on it like center punch. I don't know if you can get PB Blaster in the UK, but try auto parts stores or get an equivalent.
