Can I refinish my lavender tub?

I am trying to figure out how to get the color back on my lavender tub. I was cleaning it with Tilex, and now it has white marks all around it. Is there a way to get these off or will I have to refinish it? If so, what do I use? Also, there is rust around the drain on the tub and also the sink. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the rust?

First you have to see if the color is actually worn off or if the Tilex left a deposit on the finish. If it's worn off you will have to refinish it.

I did the same thing a long time ago, and it came off. I think I sprayed the tub with hot water, and then sprayed it with either vinegar or Windex--sorry I'm not sure. Then I used a green scrubby thing and worked it in and rinsed. Someone on here used Barkeeper's Friend in a harvest gold porcelain sink, and it looks great. http://www.hometalk.com/diy/clean/house/a-clean-sink-s-friend-1092591 Right now on a cream coloured tub, I use a DIY cleaner. I take a $ store spray bottle and fill it almost ½ way (of the straight section) with vinegar, than cheap bottled lemon juice and a couple of huge squirts of dishwashing liquid. If the bottle is not full I add water. I spray the soap scum, let it sit for about 5 minutes, lightly scrub and rinse. Good luck!

I agree with With both women. Except I wouldn't use vinegar on it because it's a mild acid you don't want to damage it any further.

@Darla Thanks for the info, I have never used it.

Some stated bar keepers has acid in it also and they are right. Unlike some other abrasive cleaning products, such as Comet and Ajax, Bar Keepers Friend uses oxalic acid as its primary active ingredient. A similar abrasive cleaning product, Zud Heavy Duty Cleanser, also contains oxalic acid.
