You can sand out scratches with 400-800 grit sandpaper. (The higher the number, the finer the grit.)
Or you can find stainless steel repair kits that are generally a rubbing compound and pad to "sand" out the scratches.
You can try using fine (00-0000) steel wool to take them out as well.

I would try some of their other ideas before bringing out the sandpaper. That is one of the methods they suggest but with wet sandpaper, then with sandpaper lubricant.

Start with a stainless steel cleaner, and buff it good. Always wipe in one direction, either across or down. Use and old washcloth.
