How to repair chip in oven bottom?
Bottom element arced and burnt in half and left a small chip in surface of porcelain. Does it need any repair? Would also love some information on how to replace the oven heating element.

My mother had a chunk out of her enamel for years with no issues. If it isn't flaking, you should be okay.
Thhough unsighlty, I don't believe there's a real problem with a chipped area of your oven. If it bothers you a great deal, you can use one of the repair methods provided by other Hometalkers. I would be sure to dry the oven well each time it is cleaned so as not to risk rust begin.
A chip does not effect the function of the oven.

No as long as it is not cracked all the way through
I wouldn't use any kind of repair on it if it's inside the oven as it could burn and off-gas. You might check with the manufacturer to make sure the oven is safe to use.
Always make sure that the oven is completely cool and not needed for a few hours before you begin to apply the porcelain repair paint. Sand down any rough edges with a 320-fine grit sandpaper. A damp square of sandpaper can ensure you get a soft edge and don't further mar the surface of the oven cooktop.
Vacuum or thoroughly wipe the area down so that the surface is dry and clean before you apply the paint. Shake up the bottle and use small strokes to brush on a coat of paint, thoroughly covering the area. Allow the paint to dry, then apply a second coat, if needed. For deep divots, apply a filler that can harden before brushing on the cover paint to camouflage the repair.
