Ideas to cover the solid plates on my stove

My landlady brought me a new stove with solid plates Instead of the coils. I hate those tin covers. Do you have any original ideas? I have to keep them covered, as oil splashes on them, and they can be a nightmare to keep clean. Thanks

How about a couple of marble slabs? They look very high end, and could double as cutting boards or for rolling out pastry dough.

I have always wanted to buy some vintage pot lids to use for this purpose. You know, the old enamelware in bright colors. You would have to find two large and two small ones but I am very eclectic and don't care if they match or not. I have not done it yet but I think it would add a bright spot to any kitchen :)
