Try wiping area with a micro fiber cloth and a little vegetable oil. Wipe in direction of grain. Finish buffing with dry cloth, again in direction of grain. (usually steel grain is from left to right). For deeper scratches, lightly use an acrylic scratchpad- following the direction of grain. The key is using a light hand, not a lot of pressure. Kinda like car exterior work. This will "blend" scratch into grain. I found directions on YouTube for my range hood. These instructions are supposedly from an appliance manufacturer. They say vegetable oil gives same result as would a purchased stainless steel cleaner. Who da thunk.

Thanks! I'll try the vegetable oil first. Kind of worried about using any sort of scratchpad. Maybe I'll try that in somewhere on the stainless steel stove where it's not as noticeable. Appreciate your reply.

You can easily remove light, fine scratches with solutions like a store-bought non-abrasive cleaner, toothpaste, or baking soda,
