Securing dishwasher to granite countertop

I have granite countertops; my dishwasher was not secured into the bottom of the countertop and will tilt when door is open and full rack is pulled out. My question, what must I do to put a screw in to secure the dishwasher to the countertop? Should I use a small drill to set a hole first? Or should I hire a professional? Thanks for any help...and Happy Easter everyone!

One of the more common methods is to install a "filler" strip of wood. This wood is about 1/4 to 3/8 of in inch thick and runs the length of the opening. The front and bottom of this are often painted in a color that is similar to the color of the granite. for installation this wood is installed before the dishwasher goes in. It is "glued" to the underside of the granite using construction adhesive or epoxy. simple clamps hold it tight to the underside of the granite until the glue cures. once in place some small screws can be used to attach the "clips at the top of the dishwasher.
  • foremost construction services, cumming ga some manufacturers have pre drilled holes w/plug or grommet in the upper sides of your dishwasher to install a screw into cabinetry. Use stainless steel screws to avoid rusting and you may want to drill a pilot hole first since ss screws are softer alloy.

Marti, drilling should be your last option. Place epoxy to secure each bracket. Epoxy bonds to most surfaces.

  • A pro should be able to drill the granite and insert a screw fastener in the hole and epoxy it into place. We have done several of these in the past. Not hard to do.

We drill with ease or secure sides to cabinet with screws. I'm not sure what the issue is with the other subscribers.
