Judy Parkey on Apr 16, 2015Moxie is right about the linseed oil. Google "dirt floor linseed" and you should find a multi million dollar home with a dirt floor seals with linseed oil. No reason you couldn't do a wall.Helpful Reply

Grouchy on Apr 16, 2015I would check on the potential problem of having foundation blocks resting on a dirt wall. This may be a structural weakness problem since the dirt wall could give way from the weight of what's resting above it. I'd run it past an engineer before doing anything more just to be safe. Better safe than sorry!Helpful Reply

Judy Green on Apr 16, 2015There's not much to do with a cellar. Sounds more like a tall crawl space. What I would recommend is ground cover heavy plastic installed right up to and on the block. Moisture is your enemy and storage would be minimal at best.Helpful Reply

Bea Sundry on Apr 16, 2015I am not sure about the terminology, but put up dry wall studs, put cement board behind the studs high enough to cover the dirt, then pour cement behind the board.Helpful Reply
